Overview

About the project

We are working on a project to turn physical books into a knowledge corpus for local AI.

We scan each book page by page and convert the pages to text. The text is cleaned, organized by book, chapter and page, and indexed so an AI model can search it.

The model runs locally, on hardware the project controls. It answers questions from the books themselves and cites the title and page for every answer. The collection and the questions stay private.

  • Make print books searchable by AI
  • Keep the collection and the questions on local hardware
  • Give answers that cite their source

Why local AI

The library stays private

A local model runs on hardware we own. The books, the corpus and the questions never leave it.

Private by design

No cloud service sees the collection or the questions people ask.

Grounded answers

The AI answers from the scanned books and cites the title and page.

Works offline

Once built, the corpus and the model run without an internet connection.
